Please see the list below for some of the services we do, and feel free to contact us for any tree related task, not mentioned.

Tree Pruning

Cleaning - This method removes dead, dying, diseased, damaged, rubbing, detached, broken, and hanging branches, as well as foreign objects. Trees with good structure may only need cleaning.

Thinning - Is the selective removal of live branches to reduce the crown (canopy) density. Thinning allows wind to pass through or allow a little more light through the tree.

Reduction - Is the selective pruning to decrease the height and/or spread of the tree. There are various limits to this method, in how much you can remove safely, without stressing the tree.

Raising - This method is selective pruning to provide vertical clearance under the crown. This is good for providing clearance for people, vehicles and buildings.

Although a common practice in our area, Topping/Heading is not recommended. These are just a few of the problems that can be caused; Depletion of energy reserves, Increased susceptibility to boring insects, canker, and root diseases, Possible mortality, and much more. Just say NO to topping.

If you have a moment take a look at the attached PDF about topping and pruning.

There is a lot more to a tree service than just cutting down trees. Many trees can be preserved through a thoughtful, targeted pruning process that promotes long-term health. Whether it’s removing hazardous limbs, providing safe clearance from structures, or allowing a bit more sunlight to reach the area below, careful pruning makes a big difference. Our tree pruning is performed in a non-invasive manner, following ANSI standards, to protect and ensure the continual health of your tree(s). Listed below are some pruning methods that we provide.

Tree Removal

Whenever tree removals arise, Middleton TimberWorks is experienced in both urban and residential settings. When appropriate, we employ specialized rigging equipment and proven techniques to allow safe removal of trees piece by piece. Safety is treated with the highest regard—not only to protect the surrounding property and landscape, but especially to safeguard the well‑being of our team.

Tree Support

If there is present structural damage or the potential in a tree, cabling, bracing, guying, and propping can help. This provides the tree with supplemental support by limiting the movement of branches and helping to support loads. When properly done, this may extend the life of the tree by reducing the risk of structural failure.

Improving Root Health

Most of the time, the “root” of the problem when trees show signs of distress, can be attributed to the poor health of tree roots. Excessive soil compaction is a leading cause of tree decline in urban areas. One way to remedy this is by using an air excavation device to break up the soil with high pressure compressed air while leaving the tree root system mostly intact, versus mechanical excavation which can cause severe, sometimes fatal damage.

Stump Grinding

After a tree has been removed and you’d also like the unsightly stump gone as well, we can take care of that for you quickly and efficiently.
